Switching to dry dog food takes place when a puppy is about 4 weeks old. The amount of milk it receives from its mother begins to go down at this age, and the puppy begins searching for other sources of food. Brit Care Puppy All Breed is a great food for this age, for both the puppy and the mother. At first, offer the puppy only a very small amount of moistened dry food granules. Pour hot water over the granules and allow them to cool. The food should be about body temperature (37 C). Test the temperature of the food with your little finger (the food should be pleasantly warm, but not burning hot). The puppy will also like to try his mother's food as well, if she's being given quality food designed for nursing bitches, such as Brit Care Puppy All Breed - the puppy can have small amounts to crunch on.
