The Siamese belongs to the group of shorthaired cats of oriental type with typical Siamese colouring. The ideal cat is slender, elegant, with long tapering lines, supple and well muscled. The head is of medium size, wedge shaped with straight lines. There should not be a whisker break. The wedge starts at the nose and gradually increases in width on each side to the ears. The skull, viewed in profile, is slightly convex. The nose is long, straight and continuing the line from the forehead without any break, and the muzzle is narrow. The ears are large, pointed and wide at the base. Eyes are of medium size, almond shaped, set slightly slanted towards the nose. Their colour is intensely blue, pure, clean and bright. The neck is long and slender. The body is well-built, dainty and elegant, long and slender. The shoulders are not wider than the hips. Legs are long, ending with small, oval paws. The tail is thin along its entire length and is very long. It tapers to a fine point. The coat is glossy and silky, fine and very short, lying close to the body, almost without an undercoat. Ideally, the ground colour is white, but it is usually beige or fawn. It should be uniform with a light shading at the flanks, which is permissible. In any case, the contrast between the ground colour and the points must be clear. The distinctive Siamese points are located on the face, ears, legs and on the tail. Faults, precluding the conferment of the certificate, include insufficient contrast between points and body colour. White patches or even white toes, or other eye colour than blue are reasons for disqualification.
