The Korat belongs to the group of shorthaired cats. It is a medium-sized cat with an alert, attentive appearance. Viewed from the front, the head is heart-shaped with a broad space between eyes and above them. The eyebrow ridges form the upper curves of the heart shape. The outer sides of the face curve gently down to the chin to complete the heart shape. The length of the nose is in good proportion to the face, with a slight indention in the profile. The tip of the nose and the nose leather are gently curved downward (lion-like shape). Cheekbones and chin are strong and well developed. Muzzle must not be sharply pointed nor square. Ears are large, broad at the base, slightly rounded at the tips. The inside of ears is slightly covered, the outside is well covered with extremely short and close hair. Ears are set high on the head. Eyes are large, round and well opened, but oversized in relation to the size of the face. They are luminous and expressive; a brilliant green colour is preferred, but amber colour is also permissible. The body is neither short like a Manx, nor long like Siamese cats. It is muscular, supple, and powerful. The cat appears heavier than expected. The back is curved. The hind legs are somewhat higher than the front, and the paws are oval. The tail is of medium length, broad at the base, tapering to a rounded tip. The coat is short to semi-long, lying close to the body. It tends to break over the spine as the cat moves. The coat colour is same all over, silver-blue grey, hair tipped with silver; the more silver the better. The silver shine is more intense on the legs. The nose leather and paw pads are blue-grey or lavender. The females of this breed are slightly finer built and smaller than males. Faults include white hairs or patches, any other colour than silvery blue, and pattern markings.
