Semi-longhaired cats

Norwegian Forest

Skupina Code
2 NFO

The Norwegian Forest cat is a large cat with a long, solidly built body on long legs. The head shaped like an equilateral triangle. Its profile is long, level and without a stop. The chin is strong. Ears are wide at the base and they have typical lynx tufts and long tufts of hair inside the auricle. The ears should be high and open, thus the outer line of the ear should lie in one line with the cheeks, running all the way to the chin. Eyes are large and open, slightly slanted, with a bright, observing expression. All colours of eyes are permitted, independent of the fur colour. The body is long with a strong skeleton. The cat has a long, heavily furred or shaggy tail that should stretch to the neck. The legs are high, and the rear legs are longer than front legs. The coat is semi-long, the woolly underfur is covered with lithe, water repellent cover hairs. The shiny covering fur covers the back and also cheeks. A fully furred cat has a shirtfront, full frill and knickerbockers (long hairs on the back side of the rear legs). All coat colours are allowed including the combination with white (allowed in any amount), but chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, light-colour and colourings with points are not allowed. The most frequent defects are: a too small and gently built cat, a round or angular head, a profile with a stop (stop and pinch), ears that are too small, short legs and a short tail. The Norwegian Forest cat must not have a dry, felted coat.
